The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is undertaking the Urban Abandoned Well Testing Program to gather data from a representative selection of abandoned oil and gas wells located within urban boundaries across Alberta, including cities, towns, villages, and summer villages. Many of these wells were drilled prior to urban expansion and before amendments to subdivision development regulations required identification of abandoned wells near new developments. The initiative supports a preliminary assessment of these wells and current regulatory mechanisms. The AER seeks a con-tractor to assist with locating targeted wells and performing methane testing activities. All requests for clarification and questions regarding this RFP must be submitted using the Workday Message Center. The AER will ONLY respond to questions submitted via Workday.
