HHSC PCS is seeking competitive bids to establish contract(s) for handrail installation and handrail additions at the San Antonio State Hospital. Attendance at one of two mandatory on-site visits is required for bidders. The on-site visit will include a review of the requirements as well as a walk-through of the facility. Attendance in person is mandatory, and failure to do so will result in disqualification. Bidders must sign an attendance log and notify the on-site contacts regarding their attendance. Site visit attendees shall meet at Maintenance Building 640. Contractors shall install approximately 800 linear feet of vinyl wall mounted handrailing system on the second and third floors of Building 817, along with all associated end caps supports and corners as required for completion. The addition of wall mounted handrails shall require minor wall modifications with no structural work beyond the addition of wall backing support for the handrails. Sheetrock removal will be required for solid backing supports in the locations for the new handrails. Handrails are to match existing first floor handrails. Contractors shall extend magnetic door holder brackets on four (4) fire doors. Painting, patching and caulking shall apply to all new completed work and any repair work due to installation. ADA standards shall be strictly followed for height, strength and safety requirements. Specifications to include but not limited to the following: a) 1000BH Ligature Resistant Vinyl Handrail System. b) 1000BH Vinyl Handrail to be Chino in color (or equal). c) Anti-Pick Caulk, Surebond Everseal SB-190 (or equal). d) 1000HB Vinyl End Caps as required. e) Exposed Fasteners to tamper resistant. f) All handrail installations must support 200 lb. dead weight test. g) Installation shall be per manufacturer's recommendations. h) Use of toggle or expansion anchors in Gypsum board shall not be permitted.
