Site work, renovation and addition to a municipal facility in Whitby, Ontario. Working plans call for the renovation of a 30,000-square-foot municipal facility; for the addition of a 8,000-square-foot, one-story above grade municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.

Prequalification of General Contractors for the South Whitby building retrofit, renovation and addition project. The Region of Durham is undertaking a multi-phase project that includes renovating and retrofitting an existing two-storey building (Phase 2) and constructing a new ancillary building on the property (Phase 3). The first priority is Phase 2 which is anticipated to be completed in 2026. Dependant on internal and external approvals, Phase 3 will be tendered as a separate assignment to be priced by the same prequalified bidders in 2027. Overall, the renovation is to create a modernized office space, that supports operational needs, and creates an efficient, safe and healthy work environment. The existing two storey building is located in Southern Whitby, Ontario and is within 3 km of Hwy 401 access. General Contractor to supply all labour, materials, equipment and supervision required to complete demolition, electrical, mechanical, structural and general construction of the identified areas throughout the two stories of the building (20,000 to 30,000 sq. ft). The main objectives of the renovation and retrofit design (Phase 2) include: 1. Providing a variety of program specific accommodation spaces that fulfill operational requirements. These include project rooms, lunchrooms, locker rooms, fitness and shower facilities. 2. Mechanical and electrical modifications including base building power and data connections to furniture and equipment. 3. New back-up generator, including upgraded incoming electrical transformer service, and duct banks connecting new transformer and back-up generator to existing building electrical room. 4. IT panels - wiring. 5. Coordinate installation of all existing and new owner purchased furniture, fixtures and equipment. The purchase of furniture by others. The main objectives of the ancillary building construction (Phase 3) design include: 1. The Construction of a new one storey building, slab-on-grade construction with exterior covered parking canopy, between 5,000 to 8,000 sq. ft. which will accommodate garages, offices and washrooms. 2. Siteworks including parking lot re-striping, localized demolition and new construction of asphalt and curbing. The General Contractor should have experience delivering at least three projects of similar size and scope that have achieved substantial performance within the past seven (7) years. Similar size and scope for this project is as described herein where projects are of approximately $2,000,000 to $5,000,000 in value, specifically including interior renovations and/or additions of office facilities.
