Renovation of a fire / police facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.

The City of Hopkinsville is accepting sealed bids for furnishing and delivering the removal and replacement of a concrete apron at the Hopkinsville Fire Department Station 2, located at 1108 Skyline Dr., Hopkinsville, KY. Bids must be submitted by mail or delivered in person, enclosed in a second envelope, and clearly marked with the project title and bid number. The city reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids. Fire Station #2 Excavation, Haul, Disposal of Existing Concrete Debris. Installation of 9" 4000Psi Concrete, Vapor Barrier, 4x4 - 4 Gauge Mesh Wire with Double Layer 12' out from Bay Doors and Light Broom Finish. Material Specifications: o Concrete shall be 9-inch thick, air-entrained concrete. o Minimum compressive strength: 4,000 PSI at 28 days. o Reinforcement: 4x4 - 4 Gauge Mesh Wire with Double Layer 12' out from Bay Doors (or approved equal), properly supported on chairs to maintain mid-depth placement. o Vapor barrier: Minimum 6-mil polyethylene vapor barrier installed directly beneath the concrete slab, with seams overlapped minimum 12 inches and taped. o The concrete apron at the apparatus bay shall be doweled into the building's main slab to provide load transfer and prevent vertical displacement. Dowels shall be a minimum of 1" (1 inch) steel, spaced accordingly, and shall allow for thermal expansion. Subgrade Preparation: o Subgrade shall be proof-rolled and compacted to a minimum of 95% Standard Proctor density. o Unsuitable soils shall be removed and replaced with approved compacted fill. o A minimum of 4 inches of compacted dense-graded aggregate base shall be installed beneath the vapor barrier unless otherwise directed. o All existing underground utilities, including but not limited to electrical conduit, storm drainage piping, roof leader connections, and trench drains beneath the slab, shall be located, protected, or replaced as required Placement & Finishing: o Concrete shall be placed, consolidated, and finished in accordance with ACI standards. o Surface finish shall be broom finish unless otherwise specified. o Control joints shall be tooled or saw-cut at intervals not exceeding 10 feet on center (or 2-3 times slab thickness). o Expansion joints shall be installed where the apron abuts existing structures or pavement. Curing: o Concrete shall be cured in accordance with ACI recommendations using curing compound or wet curing methods for a minimum of 7 days. Project shall be completed no later than May 1, 2026
