SFU has matured into one of the world's leading teaching and research universities with more than 30,000 students, 6,500 faculty and staff, and 120,000 alumni. The purpose of this RFSQ is to establish a list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors that SFU will use to deliver specific requests for invitations to bid for work, or to directly award work at SFU's Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver campuses. Subject to the provisions of this RFSQ and other existing SFU rules and policies SFU intends to award work to Qualified Mechanical Contractors on "as-and-when" basis. Work may include capital projects, repair, renewal, maintenance and emergency works, exterior additions/alterations, interior tenant improvements, retrofits as well as refurbishment projects. See RFSQ Section 2.3 for further details. By using a list of prequalified vendors SFU expects provide fair opportunity to Qualified Mechanical Contractors as well as save time and effort in awarding these works. SFU in its sole and unfettered discretion reserves the right to make any changes to the process of awarding works as described in this RFSQ. This includes but is not limited to cancellation of any list of Qualified Contractors or adding Contractors to a List of Qualified Contractors or removing Contractors from a List of Qualified Contractors. It is SFU's intention to select at least three (3) Proponents to include on its list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors. The selected Proponents will be included on SFU's list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors for a period of one (1) year, with an option for SFU to extend the inclusion of any selected Proponent on the list of Qualified Mechanical Contractors for an additional one (1) year term up to a maximum of two (2) additional terms.
