Renovation of a transportation facility in Downers Grove, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.

The scope of work is for HVAC upgrades for Fleet and Main Street Train Station. Bidders are required to return the original copy of the proposal and one additional copy, without staples, bindings, or spines, in a sealed envelope marked with the Proposal Name and Number. A certificate of insurance is required for the awarded proposer, and attendance at a mandatory pre-bid meeting is required. The Village of Downers Grove is seeking qualified HVAC contractors to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision required to replace existing heating and cooling systems at two municipal facilities: the Fleet Maintenance Garage and the Main Street Train Station. The work includes removal of existing equipment, installation of new high-efficiency furnaces and air conditioning condensing units (ACCU), associated ductwork and piping modifications, electrical connections, and full system startup. All work shall comply with applicable building codes, manufacturer specifications, and EPA regulations regarding equipment removal and refrigerant handling. The contractor to whom this contract is awarded ("Contractor") shall provide all labor and materials required to replace the existing HVAC equipment serving the lunch room at the Fleet Maintenance Garage. Equipment Removal Isolate the existing furnace and ACCU unit. Demolish existing furnace, cooling coil, and outdoor ACCU unit. Remove and dispose of equipment from the job site in accordance with EPA regulations. System Modifications Replace furnace and modify supply and return ductwork as required. Modify or replace flue piping as necessary. Furnish and install new DX refrigerant piping as required. Install new 2-ton ACCU unit on the roof. Electrical and Controls Modify electrical and control wiring to connect the new furnace and ACCU. Provide and install a new non-fused disconnect for the ACCU unit on the roof. Furnish and install a new programmable thermostat for the system. Drainage Modify or install condensate drain piping as required. The Contractor shall provide all labor and materials necessary to replace HVAC equipment at the Main Street Train Station. Equipment Removal Isolate two (2) existing furnace and ACCU systems. Demolish existing furnaces, cooling coils, and ACCU units. Remove equipment from the job site in accordance with EPA regulations. New Equipment Installation Install the following HVAC equipment: Air Conditioning Units Replace existing ACCU units with 4-ton ACCU units located on the roof. Ductwork Modifications Modify two furnaces for double return inlet configuration. Modify return ductwork for new connections. Modify supply and return ducting as required. Flue and Venting Furnish and install two new flue pipe portals through the roof. Install new PVC flue and outside air (OA) piping through the roof for proper termination. Modify existing flue piping to allow connection for the existing hot water heater. Electrical and Controls Modify electrical connections to new furnaces as required. Tie into existing smoke detectors for unit shutdown. Modify main power wiring for new roof-mounted ACCU units. Install new weather-tight disconnects for ACCU units on the roof. Drainage Install new condensate drain lines routed to the nearest drain. Refrigerant Piping Install new DX refrigerant piping according to manufacturer recommendations. Startup and Commissioning Start and commission all new systems. Verify proper operation and system performance. Question Deadline 04/07/2026 No oral or telephone interpretations of specifications shall be binding upon the Village. All requests for interpretations or clarifications shall be made in writing and received by the Village at least five (5) business days prior to the date set for receipt of Proposals.
