New construction of a mixed-use development in Carson, California. Completed plans call for the construction of a 8,000-square-foot conference / convention center.
Bids are not due until 5/15 The project is for the new construction of an 8000 SF CMU building for the Marvyn M. Dymally African American Political & Economic Institute, to be located adjacent to the northeast of the CSUDH College of Continuing & Professional Education and the Orthotics and Prosthetics buildings. The new Dymally Institute will include a gallery, offices, conference room, auditorium, courtyard, and various support spaces. The delivery method is a modified Collaborative Design-Build with an owner-appointed architect of record, and consists of two phases: Phase 1-Design and Preconstruction Services and Phase 2-Design-Build Construction Services, with a separate agreement for each phase. Proposers must be prequalified with the Trustees, submit applications at least ten business days prior to the SOQ due date, and register as a vendor to access project documents. The Trustees provide a five percent bid advantage (up to $50,000) for certified small businesses and a required three percent Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation in all contracts. The project is a public works initiative subject to prevailing wage laws and specific insurance program requirements.
