The project involves demolishing a small single-family residence and associated outbuildings at 19 Main Street in Douglas, Massachusetts. Some of the building materials contain asbestos, and due to the structure's instability, the entire site will be treated as an asbestos remediation. Completion requires removal of all structural elements, including foundations and slabs, grading the property as determined by the Town, and proper disposal of materials with completion of all required paperwork with regulatory authorities. All work must comply with relevant laws, regulations, workplace safety, environmental compliance, and prevailing wage rules, with the contractor taking full responsibility for compliance. Only qualified bidders will be considered. Contractors must have all necessary licensing for asbestos removal and general contracting, valid and in good standing. Bidders must submit a five percent (5%) bid deposit, either as a certified, treasurer's, or cashier's check from a bank or trust company payable to the Town of Douglas, or as a bid bond from an approved surety company. Within ten (10) days of contract award, the successful bidder must provide a payment bond equal to fifty percent (50%) of the contract price. Bidders must register with the Executive Assistant to the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator to obtain a full bid package, which includes the asbestos report, mandatory certifications, and bid forms. The Town reserves the right to dismiss any or all bids if deemed in its interest. The Town of Douglas is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Service Provider.
