Site work for a water / sewer project in Gary, Indiana. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Remove and replace existing 12-inch diameter pipe with 12-inch diameter PVC SDR 35 +- 28-linear feet from Manhole No. 1545A going towards Manhole No. 1545. New pipe shall extend 4-inches into the inner surface of existing Manhole No. 1545A. Contractor shall ensure pipe penetrations are sealed and watertight. Connect new pipe to existing PVC pipe with a watertight connection using either a neoprene rubber coupling with stainless steel straps or a coupling provided by the manufacturer and approved by the owner. The maximum space between abutting pipes shall be 1/8 inches or less. Submit pictures or request an inspection before and after installation of rubber coupling and manhole connections to the Gary Sanitary District for verification. Reconnect/repair active encountered "Wye" connection for existing service lines/laterals including drainage pipes that are affected. Limit of service lateral repairs is the easement or right-of-way. "Wye" connection for new pipe must be a molded integral part of the pipe section. Use of Saddles is not permissible. Use granular bedding (6-inch minimum) for new sewer pipe installation. Backfill and compact excavated area in accordance with ASTM-D-698 with compaction at 95% of maximum dry density. Excavate, remove, and dispose offsite damaged sewer and appurtenances. Field verify size, depth, and location of sewer, manholes, and appurtenances. Locate all utilities in the project area. Clean the sewer from Manhole No. 1545A to Manhole No. 1545 and remove all deposits upon completion of work. Televise (CCTV) and video the sewer from Manhole No. 1545A to Manhole No. 1545 upon completion. All CCTV videos shall have audio and be done to NASCCO standards. Submit a copy of the CCTV video(s) and inspection log on a flash drive or other digital format to the Engineering Department. Support and protect utility poles, building structures, driveways, and underground utilities as necessary. Ensure proper flow of sewage at all times during construction, providing bypass pumping as required. Perform dewatering activities as needed. All work must be completed by experienced, trained, and certified technicians. Secure necessary permits, licenses, and notifications for construction. Perform video of the work area to show the condition of all existing surface structures and landscape prior to site mobilization and provide a copy to the Owner. Install a 6-foot x 6-foot x 6-inch thick concrete apron around the existing manhole casting of manhole 1545A. Restore disturbed driveway, sidewalk, fencing, and landscaped/unpaved areas to equal or better than existing condition.
