The work consists of reconstructing deteriorating cave trail surfaces within the Ruins of Karnak, River Hall, and Rafinesque Hall to provide a sustainable and safe walking surface for park visitors and staff. Construction activities include preparing existing ground conditions for installation of footings, removing existing handrails, installing new concrete footings, and constructing elevated trail platforms using fiber-reinforced plastic. The project also includes installation of new 2-inch stainless steel handrails and the transportation of all materials, tools, and equipment into and out of the cave environment. All work shall be performed in accordance with applicable requirements to support long-term durability and safe access within the cave system.
