Site work and new construction of a warehouse / distribution facility in Bessemer, Alabama. Completed plans call for the construction of a 1,500-square-foot, one-story above grade warehouse / distribution facility.
The City of Bessemer is seeking bids for the construction of a storage building to be located on the grounds of the Kenneth E. Gulley Recreation Center. The project includes a new one-level 30ft x 50ft building, a storage room, one small 12ft 8in x 12ft office, concrete slab on grade with hip roof structure, wood trusses with architectural shingles, load-bearing concrete masonry unit walls with exterior brick veneer matching an adjacent building, two 8x10 roll-up utility doors and one man door, A/C wall unit in office and addition to adjacent concessions building, and coordination of civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems. Completion time is 150 consecutive calendar days with liquidated damages of $500.00 per day beyond completion time. All bids must be sealed and include a cashier's check or bid bond of at least 5% of the bid (maximum $10,000), performance and payment bonds at 100%, and proof of insurance. Bidders must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and display their license number on the sealed envelope. Nonresident bidders must include a legal opinion regarding state preference laws. Question Deadline 04/13/2026 All questions about meaning or intent of the Contract Documents are to be directed to Engineer Questions received less than two days prior to the date for opening of Bids may not be answered.
