The work consists of the relocation of a 13.8 kV distribution line located at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 13th Street. Bids must be submitted on the Bid Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope. Each bidder must include bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The successful bidder must furnish a corporate surety bond equal to 100% of the contract price, issued by an approved surety, guaranteeing faithful performance, prompt payment, and protection against claims and damages, including maintenance of the improvement for one year after completion and acceptance by the City. The contractor is responsible for paying all applicable state and local taxes on materials and equipment incorporated into the project. All bidders must complete and submit the Bidder Status Form and certify their state or country of domicile. Preference will be given to Iowa products, coal, and labor to the extent permitted by law. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and enter into contracts deemed in the best interest of the City.
