Renovation of a medical facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

The project involves providing construction services for the replacement of a fire pump and generator in the Philip - Wangensteen Building, located on the east bank of the Twin Cities campus. Bidders are instructed to refer to the Request for Proposal documents for full project details and requirements. All questions about the RFP should be reviewed in the provided instructions, requirements, and attributes tabs before submission. Bidders are encouraged to register on the Supplier Matchmaking Google Form if interested and are responsible for validating information about potential partners. Responses must be submitted with all attachments before the deadline, as late submissions or responses with errors will not be accepted. The Philip - Wangensteen Building (PWB), located at 516 Delaware Street SE Minneapolis, MN 55455, houses various sizes of teaching labs, classrooms, and research spaces. The scope of Work for this Project includes: 1. Replacement of 150 HP fire pump, existing fuel oil transfer pumps, and generators # 001, # 002, # 090 including removal of existing exhaust system. The new electric fire pumps will be installed and has been sized to meet the highest sprinkler demand for all three interconnected buildings. 2. The five existing fuel oil transfer pumps will be removed and three new positive displacement pumps (P-001, P-002, P-003) will be installed in a two-hour gypsum board enclosure constructed for these new fuel oil pumps. 3. Upgrading of the PWB fuel containment piping, and replacement of all associated automatic transfer switches and controls. 4. The two PWB basement generators (090 and 001) will be removed as well as the 10th floor generator (002). 5. A diesel 2MW generator shall be installed with a 600-gal. sub-base double-walled UL listed tank with leak detection on the PWB roof. The generator shall have a walk-in enclosure with platform grating surrounding generator and gaseous fire suppression within the enclosure. The replacement generator will be installed on the 15th floor roof of PWB. Please note The 15th floor generator (003) and its day tank will remain in place. 6. Coordination in suggested locations of the placements of the 1.5MW temporary generator and cranes. The selected Respondent will work with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), namely Parking and Transportation Services (PTS), Energy Management (EM), University Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), UMPD, etc. 7. Identifying long lead items and indicating in the Critical Path Schedule sequences that may be built and installed prior to receiving and installation of these long lead items. The selected Respondent will use the 100% Construction Documents for the comprehensive full scope and Project details while adhering to the University Standards, Codes, and any other Authorities having AHJ. Respondents are encouraged to be creative in their schedule and organize Work that can be accomplished to minimize the long lead times deliveries and installations. If Project can be completed sooner, please note this in your Proposal. KFI Engineers is the Architect/Engineer of Record for the Project.
