Replace and upgrade HVAC systems at the Chicago Medical Center Office and Laboratory Building in Cook County. MBE/WBE subcontracting and supplier goals apply. The delivery method is Single Prime. PLA is applicable. Special instructions and further details are included for bidders. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 1. The scope of work is to repair the major HVAC and Electrical systems in the Chicago Med Center Laboratory Building. The work will include Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing upgrades. Work associated with the interior refurbishment of the IDPH laboratories on the west side is excluded (interior finishes, temperature controls, etc.) 2. The architectural scope consists of new TPO roofing in the cooling tower well only. 3. The mechanical scope consists of demolition and replacement of the Cooling Towers. The east and west side AHUs in the basement will have coils and dampers repaired along with the replacement of associated condenser and chilled water pumps. 4. New control systems will include the expansion of the existing BAS to pick up the new and repaired equipment. 5. New wiring to the cooling towers is specified, and there will be new electrical wiring for all new and repaired HVAC equipment. 6. There is no fire protection or fire alarm scope. 7. There is no security scope. 8. Asbestos abatement will be required at the air handlers to be repaired and at the cooling tower well roofing. There is pipe insulation at the cooling towers which will also require abatement. 9. Contractor will be permitted to work overtime and weekends without any additional cost to the State of Illinois in order to meet the schedule.
