General duties provided by the Consultant shall include: performing the duties of construction inspection and field engineering including electrical inspection, traffic control inspection, quantity calculations, and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications; identifying actual and potential problems associated with the construction project and recommending sound engineering solutions to the City; analyzing the plans and specifications for possible errors and deficiencies and reporting such findings to the City; maintaining an awareness of safety and health requirements, and of applicable regulations and contract provisions for the protection of the public and project personnel; maintaining continuous communications with the field personnel, construction administration and City staff, and with project neighbors to resolve community project problems and to advise them of work conditions affecting businesses and the neighborhood; preparing calculations, records, reports, and correspondence related to project activities; preparation of "As-Built" plans; preparing Change Orders in accordance with City procedures if determined necessary by the City; performing required field tests such as testing crosswalks to ensure correct operation of the countdown pedestrian signals and leading pedestrian intervals; preparing claims reports and being available for any claims settlement meetings; reviewing contractor's CPM schedule and construction staging plans, and issuing comments; recommending recovery schedules when needed; preparing construction punch-list items towards end of project construction.
