The project consists of repairs and recoating the 1,000,000 gallon spheroidal elevated tank, known as the Dewey Beach Tower, located at 1713 Bayard Ave., Dewey Beach, Delaware. The work shall include foundation work, metal repair work, metal fabrication work, installations, electrical work, and work incidental to the work described herein. Due to the seasonal influx of residents and visitors in the Dewey Beach water distribution area, the Dewey Beach water tank must remain in service until October 1st with service restored before April 15th. Draining of the tower must be limited to the period between these dates. Bids will be received for a single prime contract. Bids shall be on a unit price basis as indicated in the bid form. Bidding documents are available digitally at no charge, or as printed sets for a non-refundable cost. Prospective bidders may examine the documents at the issuing office or Sussex County Engineering office during specified business hours. Bids must be submitted in duplicate. A pre-bid conference will be held at the site, and attendance is highly encouraged but not mandatory. Questions concerning the bid should be submitted in writing via email and must include the project name in the subject. Bid security is required in accordance with the instructions to bidders. If any portion of a response contains trade secrets or confidential information, it must be clearly identified and supported in writing. Submissions will remain confidential until awarded and a contract executed, after which all submissions are open to public inspection. Sussex County reserves the right to extend the time and place of bid opening with proper notice.
