The South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking bids from qualified contractors for the removal and replacement of thirty-one (31) existing windows at the White Pines Camp 1, 742 T Bishop Rd, Jonesville, SC. All work must comply with applicable codes, industry standards, and SCDJJ Contractor's Conduct (See ATTACHMENT B: CONTRACTOR'S CONDUCT AGREEMENT.) 1. Site Preparation & Window Removal The Contractor shall perform all work necessary to safely remove existing windows and prepare openings for new installations. Work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: a. Protect all surrounding masonry, interior finishes, and adjacent surfaces from damage during window removal activities. b. Remove and properly dispose of all existing aluminum windows. c. Inspect existing masonry or block openings for deterioration, damage, or irregularities that may affect the installation of new windows and report all findings to SCDJJ for review and direction prior to installation d. Perform minor repairs and surface preparation as necessary to ensure proper fit, alignment, and secure installation of new windows. 2. Window Furnishing & Installation The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to furnish and install a total of 31 new energy-efficient windows across the following buildings: Administration Building: 5 windows Education Building: 11 windows Dormitories: 10 windows Cafe/Kitchen: 5 windows Work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: A. Window System ii. Furnish and install new energy-efficient window units meeting SCDJJ-approved specifications and applicable codes. iii. Windows shall meet or exceed the following minimum performance criteria, consistent with South Carolina Climate Zone 3A: a. U-Factor: <= 0.40 b. Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC): <= 0.25 c. c. Air Leakage: <= 0.30 cfm/ft2 iv. Window units shall be properly sized to fit existing masonry or block openings, or adjusted as required to ensure proper installation. v. Frames shall be aluminum construction, suitable for institutional use. vi. Install all windows plumb, level, square, and fully operable in accordance with Page 17 manufacturer specifications and industry standards. vii. Provide and install all required fasteners, anchors, and hardware as recommended by the manufacturer. viii. Provide and install standard fiberglass mesh screens to fit window openings, including appropriate screen frames, spline, and hardware for proper installation. ix. Install flashing, waterproofing membranes, and sealants appropriate for masonry construction to ensure a weather-tight assembly. B. Interior & Exterior Finishing i. Caulk all interior and exterior joints in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. ii. Restore any disturbed interior or exterior finishes to match existing conditions. iii. Ensure all installations are secure, weather-tight, and free of air or water infiltration. C. Quality Assurance 1. Verify proper operation of all windows, including opening, closing, and locking mechanisms. 2. Confirm alignment, smooth operation, and weather-tight. 3. Label and document all installed units as required.
