This bid is for demolition of phase 2 properties, site grading of the entire site, and site utilities for the new Academic Complex. Question Deadline 04/21/2026 at 3:00 PM CT Summary Project Description: The proposed Academic Complex Building at Western Kentucky University is to be located at the site in between State Street and Chestnut Street over the Kiss Me Quick Ave. Current site is located besides the WKU hilltop and currently comprises of residential structures. The project site includes the area behind Environmental Science & Technology Building where the greenhouse structures currently resides. The building is 120,000 SF on three levels plus a penthouse level. The building will house the College of Health and Human Services Communication Sciences program, including Applied Human Sciences (AHS), and Disorders (CSD), Kinesiology, Recreation and Sports (KRS), Nursing & Allied Health, Physical Theraphy (DPT), Public Health (PH), and Social Work (SW); and Public Media program. Program support spaces include Classrooms, Laboratories, Simulated Learning Environments, Associated support areas, Student Study Rooms, as well as Faculty and Administration Offices and Support. The building massing is composed of a U shaped 3 story massing plus penthouse fronting the State Street with a single story 200 person classroom extending to the south west of the site towards the new connector street. There will be two primary entrances, one facing State Street and another one facing Chestnut street, with additional pass through entrances in connecting the 200-person classroom to the main building. The State Street entrance, dedicated for CHSS and general building entrance, will be at elevation 575. The Chestnut Street entrance, dedicated for Public Media entrance will be at elevation 548.5. The pass through entrance, dedicated for 200-person classroom entrance will be at elevation 560. The program elevation of the first floor is set at 562.5. The pass through entrance and the State Street entrance are connected through the collaborative stairs to a central commons space at the main level. The commons is a two-story space with a monumental stair connecting to the second level where another two-story space library resides. The site slopes downward along the Chestnut Street from the north west corner towards the south east and the building has multiple entry point elevations to work with the existing grades. Lower level elevation comprises the Chestnut Street entrance dedicated mostly for public media programs with classrooms located towards the 200-person classroom and around the collaborative stairs, and public media faculty office at one of the wings, the other wing serves as loading service area for the building. State Street side of lower level is partially below grade
