Wilkes County Board of Education is requesting proposals from qualified, experienced individuals or firms to provide services associated with the design, permitting, and construction of stadium seating areas for persons with disabilities at the subject schools. The following may be considered a minimal list of project requirements, and shall not be considered all inclusive 1. Properly Evaluate Project Areas o Perform site visits o Review existing conditions, site topography and drainage patterns. o Understand current and proposed uses. o Evaluate and confirm existing conditions. o Determine soil types and seasonal high-water table elevations. o Consider means of ingress and egress. o Providing sufficient temporary fencing if needed to maintain safety and security. 2. Utilize Effective Design and Construction Methods o Use highly qualified design professionals, licensed for practice in North Carolina and eligible to work for NC State Agencies. o Meet with representatives of the school district on a regular basis to review the project and give regular updates to meet time constraints. o Conduct any necessary code and zoning research on safety, function, transportation and accessibility. o Identify regulatory agencies and permits required for the project (Firm will be responsible for pulling required permits). o Assess programming and overall facility use needs as may be applicable. o Use quality materials to construct new sections and when tying into existing bleachers to ensure long term safe operation and use. o Work with Wilkes County Schools current architect firm on footing design to ensure a suitable foundation for new bleachers sections to rest on and anchor to. o Ensure proper materials selection and workmanship by highly skilled professionals. o Effective utilization of time and resources to meet budget and schedule constraints. o Certify construction standards and warranty materials and workmanship. o Locate any utilities or other items that may prohibit the project Question Deadline 04/15/2026 at 3:00 PM ET Questions regarding this RFQ are to be submitted in writing via email to Bergie Speaks at speaksb@wilkes.k12.nc.us Design-build architectural, engineering, and construction services for renovations to existing stadium seating to provide appropriate seating, walkways, ramps, and steps for persons with disabilities at the following locations: East Wilkes High School, 13315 NC Highway 268, Ronda, NC 28670; West Wilkes High School, 6598 Boone Trail, Millers Creek, NC 28651; and Wilkes Central High School, 1179 Moravian Falls Road, Wilkesboro, NC 28697. The Wilkes County Board of Education is seeking written proposals from qualified individuals and firms to provide design-build architectural, engineering, and construction services for renovations to existing stadium seating. The renovations are to provide appropriate seating, walkways, ramps, and steps for persons with disabilities at East Wilkes High School, West Wilkes High School, and Wilkes Central High School. The Board of Education reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive any minor informality in the proposal process, and to accept the proposal deemed to be in the best interest of the school district.
