The work requires the construction of a viewing platform at the base of Pulpit Rock within the Pulpit Rock Conservation Area. The project location is at 596 New Boston Road, in an area accessed by trail only, with no motorized access to the site. The platform is intended to provide a view of the Pulpit rock formation while protecting the fragile ecosystem in the area and reducing negative impacts from visitor access to the base. The Conservation Area consists of 338 acres with approximately 4 miles of trails, and is protected by a conservation easement that aims to preserve habitats and allow only educational and passive recreational use. The contractor must be aware of these conservation requirements during construction. Volunteer labor will be available to haul materials and equipment to the site. Staging areas available include the parking area and the area around the kiosk at the trailhead. The work must be completed prior to December 18, 2026. Contractors must demonstrate experience in similar design and construction projects, and collaborate with volunteers as needed. Proposals will be evaluated on qualifications, value, aesthetic design, schedule adherence, and the ability to work with volunteers. Bidders are strongly encouraged to conduct a site visit prior to submitting their proposal. All proposals must be submitted by the deadline.
