A $123 million, seven-story mixed-use rental tower has been approved for construction at 257 Main Street in downtown Hempstead following final approval of an Industrial Development Agency tax incentive package. The project will deliver 246 residential units above approximately 6,114 square feet of ground-floor retail and a multi-level parking garage totaling about 109,975 square feet. The development, led by First Street Companies, is located within walking distance of the LIRR station and includes a commitment to reserve 10 percent of the apartments for lower-income households. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026 with an estimated build duration of approximately 30 months
