The Town of East Montpelier is requesting proposals from interested and qualified contractors to provide all labor, materials, equipment, engineering, fabrication, delivery, and erection of a 25' x 35' timber frame park shelter, to be constructed at the East Montpelier Recreation Fields on 571 Vincent Flats Rd, East Montpelier, VT 05651 in the summer of 2027. The structure will be supported on helical piles, utilize exposed heavy timber framing with tongue-and-groove roof decking, and be engineered and stamped by a Vermont-licensed Professional Engineer. Other details include; 10'-6" eave height; 8:12 roof pitch; frame layout by contractor. Design should incorporate features (e.g., overhangs) to minimize weather exposure and maintenance. Utilize Eastern White Pine, Douglas Fir, or approved equal; structural grade, properly seasoned or kiln dried, planed and sanded for exposed architectural use. Traditional mortiseand-tenon joinery with hardwood pegs or approved equal. Metal roof will be installed by others. Helical pile foundation by others. Contractor to provide column reactions, base details, anchor requirements, and coordination for foundation design.
