Renovation of a retail development in East Hartford, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 12,168-square-foot retail development.
The work involves improving the facade of the commercial building located at 980-988 Main Street in East Hartford. The project is funded by the Community Development Block Grant and will take place on a privately owned property. The scope of work includes new signage, fascia replacement, new storefront glazing, general construction work, and electrical work. Bidders must provide a 5% bid bond and, if awarded, must furnish a 100% Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Bond. The contractor is required to comply with federal requirements, including paying federal prevailing wages per the Davis Bacon Wage Act, and all federal, state, and local contract requirements. The award of this contract is subject to approval by relevant governmental agencies and the appropriation of adequate funds by the proper agencies. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive any informality, and exercise all other rights detailed in the contract documents. Requests for information (RFIs) will be accepted via email to the Purchasing Agent on or before TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2026. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. The property is comprised of a single-story multi-tenant retail building that has four (4) Mercantile spaces and an Assembly restaurant space. The tenants are: H&R Block, a vacant space, T-Main boxing, Nazca Envios, and Mama Juana, a Peruvian Restaurant. The multi-tenant building was built in 1952 with renovations from 1986-1990 with a total of 12,168 square feet. The exterior facade renovation of the multi-tenant building will include: a. Demolition where required and shown in the drawings. b. The removal of outdated signs and replacement with box signage. c. The removal and replacement of roof edge fascia and soffit fascia. d. The installation of new storefront glazing. e. The removal and replacement of metal fascia cover at wall 'columns'. f. General construction work including: installation of new thin brick knee walls, painting, soffit ceilings, window touch-up work, door and hardware, new storefront assembly w/ new partial slab and footing, and select wall areas to receive thin brick to match existing brick facade. g. Electrical work including installation of new lighting fixtures at exterior soffits.
