Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a medical facility in Timmins, Ontario. Completed plans call for the addition of a 19,120-square-foot, one-story above grade, 24-room medical facility; for the demolition of a medical facility; for the renovation of a 9,427-square-foot medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.

TADH Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation – Request for Prequalification for General Contractors Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 229-bed, fully accredited (Accreditation Canada) teaching and referral hospital, supported by a dedicated team of approximately 1,400 staff and more than 288 credentialed physicians—including 88 local physicians and over 200 visiting locums. Together, they serve as a critical hub for more than 110,000 residents across Northeastern Ontario. TADH’s catchment area includes urban, rural, and remote communities spanning the districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Sudbury, and Timiskaming, as well as the James and Hudson Bay coasts. The hospital delivers a full continuum of care from birth to end of life and is the only hospital in the district providing both general and advanced specialized surgical services. TADH offers a comprehensive range of programs and services, including emergency, medical, and surgical care; maternal, newborn, and pediatric services; and mental health and addiction supports for children, youth, and adults. The hospital also provides rehabilitation and complex continuing care, oncology, palliative and hospice services, as well as chronic disease management through dialysis, kidney care, and diabetes education. Diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, and a range of visiting specialty clinics further enhance access to care close to home. The Emergency Department Expansion and Renovation will deliver a new, purpose-built ED through a vertical expansion above the existing Dialysis wing, capped by a dedicated mechanical penthouse, along with targeted renovations to the current ED. In total, approximately 19,120ft² (1,776 m²) of new clinical space will be added, and 9,427 ft² (875 m²) of existing space renovated. The expanded ED will include 24 patientcare bays—comprising two Trauma rooms and three Isolation rooms—a secure Mental Health Emergency Stabilization Unit (MHESU) with four seclusion rooms, and a four-bay enclosed ambulance garage. A reconfigured entry sequence and ambulance enclosure will clearly separate first-responder traffic from walk-in and ambulatory arrivals, improving safety, wayfinding, and patient flow from curb to care.
