Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Wichita, Kansas. Working plans call for the construction of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.
Construct a new centralized emergency power system to enhance emergency power capabilities for the medical center and support up to 150,000 square feet of future expansion. Replace multiple distributed generators with a single, medium-voltage generation and distribution facility designed for resilience, security, and operational efficiency, in accordance with project drawings and specifications. Install three paralleled 3MW, 12.47kV diesel generators with associated paralleling switchgear to provide N+1 emergency backup power. Construct underground, concrete-encased duct banks for normal and emergency medium-voltage loops and install pad-mounted stepdown transformers at each building. Decommission and remove existing localized life safety generators and fuel tanks and integrate all facilities into the centralized system. Provide system controls and testing, including load bank connections, integration of start signals at automatic transfer switches, and verification that emergency power is delivered within required timeframes. Install low-voltage and fiber optic communications duct banks for system controls and integrate security and monitoring systems to campus head-end systems. Furnish and install dedicated HVAC systems for generator and electrical spaces, including steam heating and DX cooling, and provide ventilation systems with impact-rated louvers, attenuators, and fans. Supply and install two 40,000-gallon double-wall fiberglass underground fuel storage tanks with leak detection, day tank, pump system, and associated containment piping and trenching. Construct a new blast-rated generator building of approximately 5,100 GSF with all utilities, foundations, and architectural finishes, and extend or reroute site utilities as necessary. Implement site security features including fencing, blast protection walls, security gates with dual-authentication entry, and reconfigured access, along with site restoration and stormwater management. Perform all architectural, structural, communications, and security system work required to support the installation, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards and maintaining continuous emergency power through phased construction and temporary systems, delivering a fully tested and commissioned turnkey system. Location: Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, 5500 E Kellogg Dr, Wichita, KS 67218, USA The estimated project cost range to complete this work is between $20,000,000 and $50,000,000.
