The City and County of Denver is pursuing the acquisition of a former state office building at 251 E. 12th Ave. in the Capitol Hill neighborhood for approximately $4.5 million, with plans to convert or redevelop the nearly one-acre site for affordable housing. The three-story building, originally constructed in 1957 and expanded in 2004, contains approximately 123,110–128,489 square feet and is zoned C-MX-8, allowing mixed-use development up to eight stories. The purchase would be funded through the voter-approved Vibrant Denver bond, with an RFP for an affordable housing development partner anticipated following closing and City Council approval.
