Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Design plans call for the construction of a 30,000-square-foot, three-story above grade fire / police facility; four-story above grade fire / police facility; and for site work for a fire / police facility.
Plans call for a 30,000 sq ft, three-story brick building dedicated to department training and administration. Other aspects of the site will include an estimated four-story training tower, fleet maintenance, along with a fire marshal’s office and logistics department. As of April 2026, the project is in design and received conceptual design approval from the Design Review Board in January 2026. Information regarding contractor bidding has not been disclosed. A firm construction schedule has not been established. The City of Charleston is seeking conceptual design review approval for development of a new fire operations and training complex at the east corner of West Ashley Circle and Glenn McConnell Parkway in West Ashley. The public safety project will provide a centralized facility for fire department operations and training activities and is being advanced by the City of Charleston Capital Projects division, with Billy Connell listed as the applicant. The project is in the early planning and entitlement phase prior to detailed design and funding authorization.
