The goal is to provide residents and eligible small businesses access to weekly solid waste collection services with an economy-of-scale similar to that available to large homeowners associations. This will be a subscription-based service in advance of a potential mandate in April 2029. There is also a bi-weekly, subscription-based, curbside recycling service currently serving about 9,300 households. The County intends to award a contract for curbside recycling collection in conjunction with the solid waste collection contract, but may opt to award it earlier. Preference is for a single contractor for both services, but contracts may be awarded separately. The County owns all curbside recycling carts currently deployed plus 700 additional spare carts.
