The Westchester County Department of Planning is inviting proposals to furnish and install plants and adaptively manage the planting area at Glen Island Park. Two areas have been designated as Planting Areas for Reforestation. Planting area B is approximately 1.4 acres and Planting Area C is approximately 1.9 acres; both will be enclosed with a contractor installed fence. All planting areas will be planted in year one. As a part of the adaptive management plan for the following two years, additional plants will be added as needed. All plants are to be maintained during the course of the three-year contract. All plants will have a one year guarantee from the time they are planted. All fencing and guards are to be removed at the end of the third year. Adaptive management will require an annual report, and a schedule of work for all three years will be required. This work requires a landscape contractor with demonstrated experience in the installation and long term management of native plant communities. The contractor shall have expertise in establishing woody and herbaceous native species and implementing adaptive management practices to support the development of a biodiverse, forested landscape.
