Renovation of a municipal facility in Ketchikan, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
This project provides for the acquisition of property for future construction of an Electric Division Service Center. For a number of years, the present facility located at 1065 Fair Street has been inadequate for the needs of the Electric Division. In 1996, a study was completed by an architecture firm which determined the size and proposed facility and possible sites with the conceptual plan for the Electric Division Service Center to occur in 2003. The project was deferred through 2005 and, in 2006, removed from the budget. The need to move forward and update/expand the Electric Division Service Center has become more critical in that we are currently renting multiple storage facilities and rental space to accommodate material and staff. The project is included in the City's 2026-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 28, 2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
