Renovation of an educational facility in Quincy, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Work generally consists of the replacement of (2) existing high efficiency boilers, pumps, and (2) large, custom rooftop units and all associated ductwork, electrical and piping work. Bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond in the amount of 5% of the total base bid. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of the Quincy School District No. 172 equal to this amount, will be an acceptable Bid Bond. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder as reasonably determined by the Board of Education considering conformity with specifications, terms of delivery, quality and serviceability. The Board will consider the experience of the bidder on this type of project or similar projects, the performance history of the bidder regarding conformity with specifications, meeting terms of delivery, quality of work, and the performance history and ability of the bidder to service the product, including response time to service calls. The Board of Education is not obligated to accept the lowest dollar bid and reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informalities, irregularities, technicalities, or defects in any bid should the Board deem it in the best interest of the school district to do so. Labor statutes and prevailing wage rates must be adhered to; contractors are required to pay not less than prevailing wage rates for all classifications of labor as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor. Prospective bidders must comply with preference statutes for Illinois citizens on public works projects, the Illinois Human Rights Act regarding sexual harassment policies, and statutory requirements for substance abuse prevention programs. All work on the boiler replacement scope must be completed by Friday, October 2, 2026. All other work must be completed in occupied areas and systems functional on or before Friday, July 30, 2027.
