Renovation of a data center facility in Lexington, Kentucky. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 1,100-square-foot, one-story above grade data center facility; and 1,100-square-foot, one-story above grade data center facility.

The project involves the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Enterprise Data Center expansion within the Lee T. Todd, Jr. Building at the University of Kentucky. The work renovates and expands the HIPAA secure research data center to support increased needs for high performance computing and secure biomedical research data. The area of work is limited to the northwest corner of the existing first floor and does not include site modifications. The data center footprint will increase to approximately 1,100 square feet to accommodate 15 additional high density computing racks, with alternates for up to 25 racks and a mechanical screen. Scope includes architectural renovations, structural verification and reinforcement, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security upgrades. The project requires new cooling infrastructure (modular chillers, CRAH units), expanded power and UPS systems with overhead busway distribution, enhanced fire suppression and alarm systems, redundant communications backbone, and University standard electronic security with controlled access and monitoring. All work is to be performed within an active campus facility, maintaining safety, reliability, and continuity of operations.
