Design-Build services are sought for the development of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Engineering and Mission Operations Facility (EMO) N278 at the Ames Research Center. The project includes demolition of two existing facilities, the Motor Pool Building N251 and the Machine Shop Building N216, along with removal of two existing motor pool fuel pumps and associated underground fuel tanks. An option for adaptive reuse of Building N216 may be considered in lieu of demolition. The new EMO facility will have a minimum goal of approximately 30,292 gross square feet and will co-locate multiple mission-critical program functions, including office space, meeting rooms, technical laboratories, and support areas. The facility is intended to support a walkable campus concept, reduce operational and maintenance costs, and provide a modern, flexible, healthy, safe, and sustainable work environment. The contractor will be responsible for full design-build coordination, including all design disciplines and trade and subcontractor work, and must comply with GSA PBS Core Building Standards, Building Information Modeling requirements, and GSA Design Excellence and Construction Excellence Programs. The anticipated construction magnitude is between $40 million and $60 million, with an estimated contract duration of 24 months, using a two-phase design-build delivery method.
