Renovation of an educational facility in Somerville, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

This project consists of the Healey School Classroom Renovations. QUESTIONS DUE: 5/7/2026 by 2PM EST Optional PRE-BID MEETING DATE AND TIME: 5/6/2026 at 2 PM EST @ The Healey School located at 5 Meacham St, Somerville, MA 02145 Questions concerning this solicitation must be delivered in writing to: Logan Carroll Procurement Manager Somerville City Hall Procurement & Contracting Services Department 93 Highland Avenue Somerville, MA 02143 Or emailed to: Lcarroll@somervillema.gov Or faxed to: 617-625-1344 Healey Classroom: The project will be a construction of approximately 2500 sf science laboratory classroom space on the 2 nd floor Room 208 of the Healey School to convert into five small classroom/office spaces. The proposed classroom location currently serves as an under utilize science lab and to be converted into five small classroom/office space to better utilize the space usage. Scope of work involves demolition of existing interior walls, removal of some fixtures, sinks or any other specialized utilities as well installation of framing and walls, upgrading lighting, ventilation, and electrical systems and safety adjustments—such as sealing unused utility connections as noted in the bid drawings and specifications. The work is expected to begin in June at end of school and be completed by end of August when classes resume. Healey Cafeteria: The project will be installation of acoustic walls and/or ceiling panels in the parameter of the cafeteria of approximately 1200 sf. The scope of work involves mounting the panels and installation labor as noted in the bid drawings and specifications. The work is expected to begin in June at end of school and be completed by end of July. Additionally, the contractor will proceed with extreme caution throughout the period of construction, as the school will be open for summer session, ensuring all circulation safety, pedestrian safety and public access to the school at all times, with minimal disruption to the school, and local residences. The contractor will incorporate appropriate traffic management plans and will be responsible for all parking permits and shall coordinate vehicle traffic with City and Somerville High School administrative staffs. Fire and emergency vehicle access will be always required, and safe pedestrian routes will be provided for school visitors. Appropriate controls for erosion, dust, and noise should be in place at all times.
