Non-personal services to identify and evaluate roadway design and infrastructure factors that influence the effectiveness of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in mitigating rural roadway departure crashes. The work includes a comprehensive review and assessment of roadway geometric design elements and infrastructure characteristics that contribute to optimizing the performance of roadway-departure prevention ADAS technologies such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Lane Change Assist. The study will systematically review and analyze these contributing factors to develop evidence-based insights and actionable recommendations to improve roadway geometric design and infrastructure in support of vehicles equipped with these ADAS features, with the goal of maximizing safety benefits and reducing roadway departure crashes and fatalities, particularly on rural roadways.
