The work shall consist essentially of the overlay of the existing walking trail, installation of new overhead lighting, and installation of an asphalt parking lot at N. Broadway Street and W. 2nd Avenue. All other related items of work required to complete the project as shown and specified in the Contract Documents are included. The contractor is responsible for performing all work and furnishing all plant, labor, equipment, and materials required by the specifications and drawings. Each bid must be accompanied by a Cashier's check, a Certified Check on a solvent bank, or a Bidder's Bond issued by a Surety Company licensed in Mississippi, amounting to five percent (5%) of the total bid price, payable to the City of Shelby as bid security. Bidders may be required to submit a current financial statement if requested. The successful bidder must furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. All proposal and contract documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the City Clerk prior to the designated hour and date. Work is to be performed in accordance with the "Mississippi State Highway Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2017," along with any amendments, special provisions, or addenda. Bidders' attention is directed to provisions regarding irregular proposals and rejection of bids, as well as compliance with labor standards, wage rates, and equal opportunity requirements for disadvantaged and women's business enterprises.
