The general nature of the work is furnishing labor and materials to reconstruct approximately 3.13 miles of the Top O Hollow to Ames Plant 69 kV transmission line. All bids must be submitted on the Bid Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. The successful bidder is required to furnish a corporate surety bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price, issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, guaranteeing faithful performance, payment of material and labor, and maintenance of the improvement in good repair for one year after completion and acceptance by the City. Contractors are responsible for all applicable taxes on materials and equipment, as no sales tax exemption certificates will be issued. The bidder must complete and submit the Bidder Status Form and certify its state or country of domicile on the Bid Form. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contracts as it deems in its best interest. Preference will be given to products, provisions, and labor from Iowa as required by statute. Bidding documents are available only from DGR Engineering; those obtained elsewhere may be incomplete.
