Site work and paving for a road / highway in Marengo, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a 1,300-square-foot road / highway.
The work involves constructing Lucas Street Improvements, including all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the removal of existing pavement, construction of 1300 square yards of new 7" Portland concrete pavement, 149 linear feet of storm sewer, storm intakes, seeding, and miscellaneous associated work including cleanup. Proposals and bids must be submitted to the City Clerk on official bidding blanks provided by the City. Each proposal must be sealed and clearly identified, and accompanied by bid security equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, in the form of a certified or cashier's check, certified share draft, or bid bond. The bid security must be payable to the City of Marengo, Iowa and must not contain any conditions. The bid security will be forfeited as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract and post a satisfactory bond within 10 days after the award of contract. Bidders should use the bid bond form provided in the specifications. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, guaranteeing faithful performance of the contract, prompt payment for all materials and labor, and guaranteeing the work against faulty workmanship and materials for two years after acceptance. Contractors and subcontractors must obtain tax exemption certificates from the City for this project. Work must commence within ten days after the written Notice to Proceed and be substantially completed by the specified date, with final completion by the final specified date. Interim and final liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day will apply for delays past the specified substantial and final completion dates, respectively. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within thirty days after bid opening. All bidders must submit a fully completed Bidder Status Form as part of their proposal. The City of Marengo reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and enter into contracts as deemed in the City's best interest.
