Maintenance dredging services are anticipated to remove accumulated material from federally authorized navigation channels. The work consists of mechanically dredging approximately 600,000 cubic yards of maintenance material from the Sewells Point to Lamberts Bend Federal channel segment and approximately 200,000 cubic yards from the Channel to Newport News Federal channel segment. Dredged material will be placed overboard at the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site and directly pumped into designated cells at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area. Dredging to depths of up to minus 56 feet mean lower low water is required. The work includes compliance with special requirements and precautions when dredging over the Navy degaussing array within the Sewells Point to Lamberts Bend segment and when operating in proximity to protected cultural resources in the Channel to Newport News segment. Construction is anticipated to be performed using mechanical dredging methods and related marine construction equipment, with an estimated performance period of approximately 175 calendar days following issuance of the Notice to Proceed. In accordance with DFARS 236.204(ii), the estimated construction price range for this project is between $25,000,000.00 and $100,000,000.00. PSC Y1KF, Construction of Dredging Facilities, applies to this project with a small business size standard of $37,000,000.00.
