A. The integrity of the existing 1980's era black carbon steel dry pipe system in this building is failing. The scope of this project is to replace the entire dry system currently in place. The 3:12 pitched roof and limited access above hard lid ceilings make access and navigation a challenge. B. The system represented in the plans is largely a copy or trace of the original system with a few exceptions. The as-built plan along with a few spot checks in various locations, was used to recreate the system digitally. An error in the original design related to hydraulic calculation / remote area of application, is corrected with the pipe sizing reflected in this plan set. It was necessary to change all sprinklers from K5.6 to K4.2 orifice thereby requiring internally galvanized pipe to be used in the system piping replacement. C. Pipe configuration is substantially representative of the current configuration. It is schematic in nature. Material lists provided are for estimating only. The installation contractor will be responsible for the final permitting, submittal for approval, configuration, fabrication and installation, all will be included in the bid. D. The base bid will include the application of a properly sized nitrogen generation system based on a 500-gallon capacity. The work, officially known as Project No. 25016, Fire Station No. 3 Sprinkler System Replacement Project, consists of the replacement of an existing dry-pipe sprinkler system at Oak Creek Fire Station No. 3.
