Renovation of a medical facility in Hartford, Vermont. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
The White River Junction VA Healthcare System requires a qualified firm to upgrade the refrigeration components of the dietetics walk-in freezer. The existing freezer cabinet is in sufficient condition, so replacement of the entire box is not necessary. The contractor shall remove old refrigeration components without damaging the structure, provide and install a new evaporator, condenser, piping, time clock, and all necessary refrigeration components, ensuring installation adheres to manufacturer instructions and all required codes and standards. Replacement of all existing refrigeration piping is required, and proper insulation, support, leak, and vacuum test procedures must be followed. The contractor must confirm the cooling capacity is sufficient (current system is 36,410 BTU), confirm all electrical is compatible with the new equipment, and work with the onsite facilities staff if changes are needed. Appropriate refrigerant for low-temperature applications (minus 10 to minus 20 degrees) must be used, and equipment submittals are required for approval. The condenser is housed on the roof in a wood and metal enclosure, requiring use of a crane and possible cutting into the enclosure for removal and installation. The contractor is responsible for disassembly, reassembly, and all associated work. A mechanical defrost control timer must be installed, which may require additional wiring. The contractor will provide functional testing, perform all safety checks, provide documentation of refrigerant removed and installed, and ensure the freezer maintains required temperatures. The contractor is responsible for all damages resulting from their fault or negligence, must provide all necessary tools and materials, ensure properly trained technicians, adhere to all facility regulations, and work with minimal impact to staff and patients. All work must comply with infection control and privacy regulations, and all required reports and documentation must be submitted as property of the U.S. Government. Question Deadline 05/13/2026 at 5:00 PM ET Questions shall be submitted to the Contracting Officer in writing via e-mail (Kenya.Mitchell1@va.gov ).
