The existing pneumatic VAV terminal units serving the building’s annex B and E are experiencing significant operational deficiencies. The pneumatic control systems are in poor condition, with air leakage within the pneumatic lines resulting in abnormal operation and seized or non-responsive dampers. Mechanical components within the VAV boxes have deteriorated to the point where reliable modulation is no longer achievable. Annex B: Replace all E.H. model HSVV VAV terminal units with new SDV VAV units. Retain and reuse existing controllers where feasible and relocate existing thermostats from ceiling level to floor-level locations. Annex E: Replace all existing pneumatic control components on the perimeter VARITRANE model HTB VAV terminal units with new Direct Digital Control (DDC) controls, including actuators and additional control devices while retaining the existing mechanical VAV boxes, which are in good condition. The central zones E.H. model SDV VAV terminal units with DDC controls will remain unaffected by this project.
