Renovation of an office development in Ottawa, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a office development.
Caulking, joint sealants and masonry joints are installed around multiple building elements to prevent water infiltration and seal the exterior closure. Typically caulking is found around openings in the exterior closure including windows, doors and mechanical and electrical penetrations. Caulking is also installed between joints in the wall cladding and between cladding transitions and other building components. Brick pointing and other joints should also be considered and replaced. The color of the caulking is chosen to either match or compliment the component it is sealing. The Consultant shall perform a site inspection to review these joints and the condition of the caulking for areas where the sealant has cracked, warped, or failed, generating thermal and water vapor breaks. The existing sealants shall be removed prior to the application of the new caulking, and any existing damage that has been discovered at the exterior cladding or window frames shall be reported.
