The Otsego County Highway Department (OCHD) is currently seeking bids from qualified contractors for construction services related to Phase 2 of the summer 2026 replacement of BIN 3354590, on County Highway 58A, in the town of Milford. County Highway 58A is a dead-end highway, thus necessitating that a new bridge be constructed adjacent to the existing bridge (which will subsequently be demolished & removed), in order to maintain uninterrupted entry & egress for residents on the south side of the bridge. Due to time constraints, the OCHD elected to directly purchase a pre-fabricated steel truss vehicular bridge, which will be fabricated & delivered by another Vendor, and installed by the Contractor. The scope of work for this phase includes, but is not necessarily limited to: o Provide submittals for major materials of construction & lifting plan o Attend pre-construction meeting o Call UDig NY for utility mark-out prior to commencing field work o Comply with all applicable OSHA regulations o Prepare adjacent site for equipment & material storage area o Site work for new substructures o Install cast-in-place piles for foundational support o Drive Steel sheeting for scour protection o Place cast-in-place concrete for new footings, abutments, & wing walls & subcontract with testing agency for concrete quality testing, as per ACI standards o Backfill & compact gravel materials, as per plan; subcontract with testing agency for soil compaction testing of roadway subbase o Install bearings at abutments, bearings to be provided by another Vendor o Coordinate with pre-fabricated bridge supplier o Install pre-fabricated steel truss bridge Place cast-in-place concrete for bridge deck & subcontract with testing agency for concrete quality testing, as per ACI standards o Install heavy stone filling for scour protection o Install roadway approaches on both sides of bridge o Install guiderail, as per contract drawings o Water quality compliance, as per contract drawings, in accordance with NYSDEC & USACE streamwork permits o Demolish, remove, & dispose of existing bridge, in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws
