Drake State Community & Technical College, Building 300 Renovations. Only general contractors who have been approved to bid pursuant to prequalification procedures and criteria established by the Owner will be eligible to bid. Drawings and specifications may be examined at the office of the architect. Bid documents may be obtained from the architect upon deposit, refundable under certain conditions. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the architect or copies thereof. Performance and payment bonds and evidence of insurance required in the bid documents will be required at the signing of the contract. Nonresident bidders must accompany written bid documents with a written opinion of an attorney at law licensed to practice law in the nonresident bidder’s state of domicile, as to the preferences granted by the law of that state to its own business entities in public contracts. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the owner's judgement, the best interests of the owner will thereby be promoted. Pre-qualification requirements: Only general contractors approved through the owner's prequalification procedures and criteria are eligible. Written prequalification procedures and criteria are available at the office of the architect. The deadline for the submission of pre-qualification documents is specified in the document. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, and must show evidence of license before bidding. The bidder must display a current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope containing the proposal.
