PROJECT DESCRIPTION SDP owns and maintains a water system serving Pueblo residents, enterprises, and public services/agencies across four community areas: Main Village, Galisteo, Domingo, and the Enterprise Area. The Santo Domingo Pueblo consists of three distinct communities that each have their own wastewater systems. These include the Main Village, Galisteo, and Domingo. The Main Village faces significant construction constraints to be considered in the design process that include but are not limited to limited access, narrow streets, overhead utilities, and buried utilities: natural gas, fiber optic, water main and services, and sewer main and services. Most of the residential structures are constructed of adobe and are without structural foundations. Construction planning must account for potential hand-digging, vibration monitoring, resident access, coordination around cultural activities, and documentation of pre-construction conditions. It is recommended that low-vibratory practices (equipment movement and soil compaction) be used within 15 m (50 ft) of buildings, to avoid indirect impacts from ground disturbing activities. Any excavation directly adjacent to the building’s walls or foundation should be completed by hand. The Main Village collection system comprises a lift station, gravity collection system, and a force main. The gravity collection system consists of six, eight, ten, and fifteen-inch clay and PVC pipe. The structural condition of the pipe varies, with several sections of clay pipe showing cracks, root intrusion, offset joints, and blockages. This design will include replacement/rehabilitation of approximately 20,000 linear feet of sewer main, 82 manholes and 360 service connections (including all necessary valves, fittings, appurtenances, and mitigations). This replacement shall be done while maintaining the established system operations.
