Description: The Big Bend 4 project covers border infrastructure improvements from near the Madera Canyon Campgrounds in Big Bend Ranch State Park, across much of Big Bend National Park, to the Lower Canyons of the Rio Grande east of the park. While U.S. Customs and Border Protection states no 30-foot wall will be built in the national park, the project includes vehicle barriers, patrol road improvements, concrete bollards, surveillance cameras, sensors, and other security infrastructure. A $1.7 billion federal contract has been awarded to support the project, with completion anticipated in 2027.
