The Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI) requires a general contractor that can deliver a wide array of specialized maintenance and replacement services, labour, and equipment in a timely manner on various projects throughout Northern Alberta. These projects include high consequence dam embankments, lake stabilization structures, embankments, dykes, lakes and/or reservoir control/outlet structures, water conveyance, and drainage structures, which are operated and maintained to provide municipal water supply, mitigate flooding and drought, and support agricultural back-flooding. The activities required may include: • Providing responsive maintenance services to address and reduce risks associated with high consequence dams, channels, dykes, culverts, and outlet structures, including heavy earthworks, aggregate placement, slope repairs, drainage improvements, bank stabilization, and reducing flow restrictions. • Addressing operational maintenance challenges such as beaver dams, debris, silt removal, and other restrictions using specialized equipment or manual labour. • Maintenance services for vegetation control, including mowing, trimming, and mulching, with specialized equipment. • Debris removal, disposal, and burning as required. • Fencing removal and reinstallation for construction purposes. • Timely, effective in-stream work in compliance with regulatory requirements under the Water Act and Fisheries Act. • Ensuring care of water according to specifications and provincial guidelines. • Employing safety measures such as temporary fencing and coffer dams. • Obtaining necessary permits required to complete the work. • Providing general labour services. • Supplying a list of all equipment, materials, manpower, and methods to be used for the described work. Bidders must detail the specialized equipment and procedures they will use to deliver the required services.
