Question Deadline 06/05/2026 at 2:00 PM ET The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to provide design and tender document preparation services for improvements to the leachate collection system at the Hidden Lake Landfill. This project involves installing a leachate collection piping system, re-establishing an existing leachate interceptor trench and finger trenches, and designing an all-weather access road to facilitate ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the system. The overall goal is to improve leachate management and ensure compliance with Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) requirements for landfill operation. The Hidden Lake Landfill's leachate collection trench and associated "finger" trenches were originally installed as part of earlier landfill leachate management works, but over time vegetative growth and soil movement have reduced the effectiveness of the system. Although the trench network was built, a planned piping system was never installed. As a result, leachate collection has been suboptimal. The proposed project will address these issues by installing the missing piping, rehabilitating the trench system, and constructing an access road to allow year-round inspection and maintenance of the leachate collection system. Existing drawings, aerial imagery, survey information, and historical background documentation available to the Municipality will be made available to the successful consultant for reference.
