Demolition and site work for an educational facility in Apex, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
The construction of West Lake Middle School Mobile Classroom Demolition and Site Remediation. Questions concerning the project shall be submitted in emailed to Nick Sursa at nsursa@wcpss.net. All contractors submitting bids will be required to provide either: (1) an affidavit that includes a description of the portion of work to be executed by minority businesses, expressed as a percentage of the total contract price, which is equal to or more than the applicable total; (2) documentation of its good faith effort to meet this goal, including any advertisements, solicitations, and evidence of other specific actions demonstrating recruitment and selection of minority business for participation in the contract as required by the contract documents; or (3) an affidavit verifying that the bidder will be self-performing all of the work as defined in N.C Gen. Stat. 143-128.2. Failure to file the required affidavit or documentation that demonstrates that the contractor made the required good faith effort is grounds for rejection of the bid. The Owner's designated representative for this project is Nick Sursa, nsursa@wcpss.net. The Wake County Public School System reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the School System. The Wake County Public School System also reserves the right to require any bidder to submit information needed to determine if said bidder is responsible within the meaning of N.C. Gen. Stat. 143-129. Scope of work shall include the following items : o Demolition shall include removal and proper disposal of ten single mobile units including wood ramps , steps, decks , foundations /piers , utilities , and any related components required for complete removal prior to site remediation . Protect all work areas with 4 ft . orange safety fence supported by T-posts . o The contractor is responsible for locating underground utilities . Lower and Cap existing underground power and pull wires prior to grading . Grade work areas to match and daylight to existing surrounding ground elevations and fill low areas to prevent water ponding . Prepare the area with 3" of topsoil and install TifTuf Bermuda sod on all impacted work areas, including all areas impacted by site access, hauling and required work activities . Sod shall be watered for 3 weeks following installation . Do not place sod when temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit . Do not use frozen sod or place on frozen soil . After demolition is completed , the contractor shall provide a letter confirming the mobiles have been demolished , including the name and location of the landfill (s) and/or recycling facilities used to dispose of all materials . The contractor is required to pull a demolition permit with Wake County . WCPSS will reimburse the contractor for all permit fees after contractor submits documentation of permit fees paid . Asbestos was not identified per the inspection completed on February 2, 2026 , by Matrix Health and Safety Consultants , LLC . Work items may be added or removed following the pre-bid walkthrough . The contractor shall include all labor , equipment , materials , hauling , and disposal necessary to complete the work
